The Thomas van Heck Foundation operates with full transparency to ensure that every action, partnership, and resource supports its cultural mission. As it will be registered non-profit (ANBI) foundation based in Amsterdam, we are accountable to both the public and the cultural institutions we collaborate with. Our goal is simple: to preserve, share, and safeguard Dutch artistic heritage — openly and responsibly.

Governance & Structure​
The Thomas van Heck Foundation will be governed by a board of four members who together ensure the foundation’s mission is carried out with professionalism and integrity. The board combines expertise in leadership, finance, art, and cultural development.
The board is chaired by Thomas Koene, who oversees the strategic direction of the foundation and represents it externally. Other areas of responsibility include collection management, ensuring the artistic and historical integrity of the works, financial control, focused on transparent reporting and compliance, and relations, dedicated to building partnerships with cultural and institutional stakeholders.

Board members do not receive financial compensation for their duties. Expenses are reimbursed only when directly related to the foundation’s activities.

Finance, Legal & Tax Status
The foundation will operate as a stichting (foundation) under Dutch law and holds ANBI-status (Algemeen Nut Beogende Instelling). This status ensures:100% non-profit operation. Public benefit as the sole objective. Transparency in financial reporting and governance. Eligibility for Dutch and European cultural grants and sponsorships.

All funding is used exclusively for cultural and educational purposes. Funding sources are divided as follows: 40% private sponsorships and loans 60% public and EU cultural grants. The foundation publishes annual financial reports showing income, expenditure, and reserves — in line with ANBI guidelines.
